I’ve embarked on a new personal photography project – the Project Inspired Blog Circle. Each round, a group of photographers will share images exploring a different theme. The first round’s theme is “Getting to Know You”.
Every spring, my family anticipates the opening of our local Plymouth ice cream stand, the Dairy Go Round. Affectionately known as “the DGR”, its opening marks a turning point in the seasons – the long cold winter is coming to an end and warm weather is just around the corner. It’s not just about the ice cream. (Don’t get me wrong, I like the ice cream!) It’s about family time, making memories together, and enjoying our community during the beautiful Michigan summer. Conor took his first trip to the DGR at just a few weeks old. We’ve spent many warm summer evenings there, and then take the long way home as we finish our cones. I think this describes our family pretty well – trying to enjoy the simple parts of life. We don’t need anything fancy – soft serve, sunshine and family suit us just fine.
Last Sunday we took advantage of a relatively warm, sunny afternoon in Plymouth to walk down to the DGR – my first trip of the year.
Next up in the blog circle is Saxton, PA photographer Jennifer Treece. Go check out her “Getting to Know Me” blog entry and follow the circle around!
